From LPN to RN: Health Career Institute
The LPN-RN track is an accelerated program through which LPN/LVNs may complete a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing and achieve eligibility to apply to take the RN licensure examination in a short time. The education from and LPN to RN program provides the knowledge and skills to function as an entry level registered nurse in a variety of settings. After graduation, you will be eligible to apply to take NLCEX-RN examination to obtain licensure to become a registered nurse.
LPN to RN Schooling
Every school will have different names for courses, but the work will be the same. One thing most programs will require is that for admissions, you have LPN licensure. In a traditional LPN to RN bridge program, you can expect to take courses in anatomy and physiology, general microbiology, medical terminology, crisis care, maternal-infant nursing, children and family nursing, general psychology and leadership and management in nursing. All in all, the LPN to RN program takes about one to two years to complete, depending on the coursework and experience you have as an LPN.
In the healthcare field today, a shortage of RNs had created the motivation for LPNs to continue their education and advance in their careers. Job opportunities for registered nurses are expected to be excellent but will vary depending on geographic location and experience. In fact, employment is expected to increase by 19% between 2012 and 2022. As an RN, the average salary is $65,470 annually, and once again that can vary based on a number of factors.
