You will take English composition, liberal arts, mathematics, anatomy and physiology I, speech, and general psychology. Building on those skills, you also take anatomy and physiology II, human growth and development, elements of nutrition, and microbiology.
RNs must have an understanding of the human body, the various medical terms that doctors and nurses use, and a firm grasp on math and communication. You use these foundational skills every day of your job when dealing with medicines, patient communication, and treatment plans.
The core nursing courses build on these foundational skills. Learn what it means to be a professional nurse and your roles and responsibilities. Becoming an RN
By the time you complete your 72 credit hours for the RN degree, you should be ready to take and pass the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses. The state of Florida will grant you your RN license once you pass the NCLEX-RN. Then you are qualified to begin looking for jobs as an RN.
