Education for Emergency Medical Services

Earning your associate of science degree in Emergency Medical Services at Health Career Institute requires a total of 60 credits. This program will prepare you for career advancement and increased employment opportunities in the field. The EMS program is a combination of the EMT-Paramedic curriculum, along with general education courses.

Prerequisite Courses For The Emergency Medical Services Program

Before being accepted into the associate of science EMS program at 六六社 you will need to have completed Emergency Medical Technician – Basic and Emergency Medical Technician Hospital/Field Combined.

Once they have been completed, you will be eligible for acceptance into the Emergency Medical Services Program.

General Education Courses For The Emergency Medical Services Program

The general education courses required for the EMS program are as follows:

  • English Composition I
  • English Composition II
  • Liberal Arts Mathematics or Intermediate Algebra
  • General Psychology
  • History of the USA: A Survey to 1877

These courses will contribute 15 of 60 credits you will need in order to graduate from the EMS program.

Required Courses For The Emergency Medical Services Program

Below you will find the list of courses necessary for the EMS program at 六六社:

  • Paramedic I Lecture /Lab Combined
  • Paramedic I Hospital/Field Combined
  • Paramedic II Lecture /Lab Combined
  • Paramedic II Hospital/Field Combined
  • Paramedic III Lecture /Lab Combined
  • Paramedic III Hospital/Field Combined

These courses will contribute the final 45 credits to your associate of science degree in Emergency Medical Services at Health Career Institute. 

Graduation Requirements For The Emergency Medical Services Program

In order to be considered for graduation in the associate of science Emergency Medical Services program, students must complete all requirements for the Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic programs.

While grades are important, the final decision as to whether the student passes is at the discretion of the Medical or EMS director. The director will look at the overall assessment of the student’s performance including but not limited to:

  • Overall grade average
  • Clinical performance evaluation
  • Attitude
  • General performance
  • Knowledge of clinical areas of study
  • Judgment exhibited by the student throughout each course

Each course must also be completed with a minimum of a C. Once all of these factors have been taken into consideration, the director will determine whether or not you have passed.
