Whether you already have experience as an EMT and want to take it to the next level, or you want to start your pre-hospital career as a Paramedic, we have the required training to get you started.
Paramedic Training
The Paramedic training program in Lauderdale Lakes takes about 12 months of instruction and hands-on training. The classroom instruction prepares Paramedics with the knowledge basis that will be needed on the job. How to take blood samples, setup intravenous therapy, administer medications, and more will be covered in the coursework. Paramedics also learn about psychiatric emergency procedures, rescue awareness and operations, and crime scene awareness.
In addition to classroom lectures, Paramedic students will conduct simulated labs to apply the principles that they learn in the classroom. This allows students to practice what they have learned with the permission to make mistakes on simulated patients. Learning by doing helps prepare students for real-world emergency medical care.
Ambulance and Hospital Experiences
Paramedic students also spend 340 hours ride time on an ambulance with EMTs and Paramedics in the field. They will observe and work with certified professionals and apply their knowledge base and skills in an actual pre-hospital setting. Every day on an ambulance will be different, and Paramedics must know how to handle any situation that comes their way.
Another 200 hours will be completed in the hospital. Paramedic students will work alongside hospital Paramedics, nurses, and doctors in an emergency room and receive hands-on experience in a real-life medical setting.
By the end of the program, Paramedics will be prepared to take the certification examination and become Paramedics in Lauderdale Lakes. EMTs and Paramedics are still in high demand, and now is the time to learn more or enroll in a Paramedic program. Contact our campus at 954-626-0255, or request information online.
